LIVING THE LIFE OF FAITH: STEP 1 Want Faith? Come to Jesus Eph 2:8, 9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. To live a life of faith the first prerequisite is to come to the saving knowledge of the son of God. This scripture from Ephesians tells us that the saving kind of faith is not something we acquire through effort it is something we receive as a gift from God. When we hear the message of salvation, God imparts to us through the ministry of His holy spirit the faith for salvation. Not only did God make the way of salvation by sacrificing His son on the cross, He gives us the power to be called the sons of God with the gift of His faith. Romans 10:17 says it this way: Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. The word of Christ can only be heard one way and that is through the Spirit of Christ. The old testament prophets put it this way, "The word of the Lord came to me..." No one can boast of any spiritual gift we possess because the Holy Spirit gives us our gifts. It has nothing to do with our talents or our natural ability. It has to do with the needs of the body of Christ and our part in the body of Christ as determined by the Spirit of God. Here's the list... If you want great faith do these things: 1. Walk in the Spirit. (When the Spirit leads follow.) Galatians 5:16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 2. Pray James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 3. Study Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. In conclusion, I know what you're thinking, "I've heard this all before." Yes, we have all heard it before and it seems simple because it is. Remember faith is a gift, not a work of righteousness. If it was a work we would be under the law and that is not a good place to be. So walk in faith. Come to Jesus. WWTK |
